An Iranian drone struck a parking lot adjacent to the United States consulate in Dubai on Tuesday night, confirmed U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio.
An Iranian drone hit a parking lot next to the United States consulate in Dubai on March 3, triggering a fire, according regional source.
The U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio confirmed the incident. “Unfortunately, a drone impacted a parking lot next to the delegation building, causing a fire. All personnel are safe”, he stated.

This attack further exacerbates the already heightened tensions in the Middle East, as similar incidents against U.S. diplomatic facilities and allied interests have been reported across the region, after the U.S.-Israeli attacks against Iran last February, 28.
Geolocated videos, distinctly show a plume of black smoke rising above the consulate building, visible from a considerable distance. Subsequently, the Dubai Media Office posted on X that the fire, attributed to a “drone-related incident”, had been extinguished without any reported injuries. This swift containment of the fire, while preventing casualties, underscores the persistent threat posed by drone technology in the ongoing conflict.
Earlier on Tuesday, two drones struck the U.S. embassy in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia, causing a limited fire and minor material damage, though no injuries were reported there either.
Furthermore, Tehran also deployed drone technology to attack the British Akrotiri airbase in Cyprus, marking the first direct strike on a European ally of Washington since the escalation with Iran began. Both British and Cypriot authorities confirmed that the damage was limited, and no casualties were recorded.
Until now, most attacks had been concentrated within the Gulf region, but the offensive against the British base in Cyprus signals a worrying expansion of the theater of operations towards territory linked to the European Union.
In response, the United States Department of State has urgently advised its citizens to immediately evacuate over a dozen countries in the region, including Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. This advisory comes in the wake of continued U.S. and Israeli strikes against targets in Iran and retaliatory actions by Tehran.
“We have identified and continue to identify charter flights, military flight options, and an expansion of commercial flight options”, Rubio emphasized.
The attack on the U.S. consulate in Dubai occurs on the fourth day of a large-scale U.S. and Israeli offensive against Iran. Recent targets have included key buildings of Iran’s political-religious apparatus in Tehran and Qom.
This ongoing offensive and the retaliatory actions from Iran underscore a rapidly escalating and volatile situation with far-reaching implications for regional and international stability.
